I love getting playing tips from from people at the table. I figured to get no action on any raise with this pot & especially since the table was soooooo tight, why not way overbet and hope someone thought I was looking to buy it.

This started a short while later on the same table Mr.Fishy is raising every hand & betting with second pair, top pair terrible kicker etc. So Mr.Knowitall decides to give everyone his two cents..

I'll admit is kinda sketchy play on my part, but I was pretty sure that any flush would send "BoB" into rebuy mode. The strange thing was "BoB" was hitting and busting a few players with some truely horrid hands, I guess if you play them all eventually you hit a few.

Many times we use acronyms to communicate online, especially in the blogger world. Recounting the many bad beats, monster pots and general situations typically are bettered by tossing in an acronym to get to the point. I was working, daydreaming the other day and thought about all of the acronyms that people might and might not be aware of...

"BoB.com-millionaire" sighting

Just jumped on PP and checked the buddy list to see what gill-breathers were swimming about and the fish that all fish are measured by was logged on "BoB" the retired dot com millionaire.
I ran across the virtual room to get to his table only to wait for 5 hand to sit down. BoB only had 9 dollars left, four hands later, the 9 was gone and I didn't even get a chance to play a hand.
He may swim like a fish, but he moves like the wind. Hopefully he's just taking a dinner break, and gearing up for another night at the blogger table. The Good Doctor had a post about out last run in with "BoB" Bloggers $250 Superfish $0 (his post from 12/8/04)

Omaha & the trip reports.

Let's get this out of the way..It was one of the most painful Saturdays ever, sitting at the horsetrack, knowing that the who's who of bloggers were hitting the tables in LV. Gladly they sell beer there and you can actually place a "wager" on the outcome of each race.
Who knew? (if you don't get the humor stop reading now, I think there's a rerun of Driving Ms Daisy on channel 9)

I honestly admire some of the writing, analysis, dedication and insight into poker, that is provided to me via this magic box that sits on my desk. Keep the trip reports coming. When's the next one???? You might as well pencil me in right now.

Onward, come to find out I'm an ANIMAL at Omaha, I just finished up a session 9x my buy in. Yes 9X my buy in. I've only played twice before, but have taken to the game rather quickly. I pose this challenge to my reader. I will play anyone, anytime, Omaha at PS. Just let me know and I will meet you at the .05/.10 limit tables. All joking aside, I think it's a great idea the PS offers microlimit games, it gives you a chance to learn different games and what if you have a terrible night and lose your buy-in at the table you'll be stuck a whopping $1.

Top 10 things overheard in LV this weekend

Damn I wish that I could be in vegas for the WPBT, but alas it's not possible at this time. Here's a few things that I'd imagine will be heard over the course of the weekend....


10- ahh variance you are such a bee-otch
9- so tell me is he really a little person?
8- no I'm sorry sir we cannot sell you 37 shots of SoCo at once
7- what do you mean I can't play 3 tables at once
6- yet another split pot 7-2 off vs 7-2 off
5- excuse me sir, you will have to put your pants back on while you are playing
4- Blogger meet Cowboy, Cowboy meet Blogger
3- lets go find "the crew" and beat the crap out of them
2- Shoten, "these players are insane."
1- the winner of the WPBT has requested to be paid completely in singles

Blogapolooza

Well it was a regular who's who last night at PP. With a table full of bloggers and da hammer making an appearance every couple of minutes. It was really hard to put a preflop raiser on a hand, with this group it's just as likely to be A-A as 7-2.

Sitting at a table with a bunch of bloggers is kinda like playing a game of chess, in a comedy club, while getting interviewed by a reporter, with the soundtrack to Oceans 11's being played by a Mariachi coverband. Oh yeah it's for your hard earned cash too.

The only slight, and I do mean slight plus to sitting in this game is no one has played with me much. So I don't have a modus operandi. But for the most part it's all about the fun, the banter, and putting moves on other bloggers. Moves that don't play well in the world of +EV, where you are likely to get called down by a fishy second pair or even worse. While I can speak of a slight plus, it's not even close enough to overcome the experience sitting at the table. The changing lineup was (in no particular order, sorry if I missed someone) Maudie, Badblood, SirFwalgman, Al, Pokernerd, Iggy, Hank, The Fat Guy, Anisotropy, The Doc, Otis, PokerQuest.

The best part of the evening? SirFwalgman getting irked after I pushed allin on him for the second time (in a row I think). The first time was a hammer hand (which I showed), the second was 10-10, hitting my set on the flop (which I did not show). I'm pretty sure he would beat me on a regular basis, but it's good to be lucky.

Worst part of the evening? 2 hands from quitting and getting 10-10, and the big stack (Pokernerd) comes back over the top for all your marbles. I went with it, only to see his J-J do a little dance on my 10-10. Damn he plays g00t!

Change is good

Both of my readers may notice I changed the look around here. If you never change, you can never evolve. If either of my readers have any suggestions about the layout, look, etc. let me know.

(No mom I will not put a border of flowers around the sides of my blog, quit suggesting it).

Party Madness..fun for the whole family

Well as soon as you sit down to a nice evening of NL do you expect, someone at the table to say,
"Hey XXXXXX I did your mom, OK" (I must paraphrase, but that's pretty much the gist). Would you stick around at that table after that welcome? Or say you sit down with a small buyin and immediately the big stack at the table says, "Hey XXXX I want your 9 dollars." Is this the environment in which you would like to start an evening of card playing?

This was just a sample of the banter that was flying around the table last night at PP, with the likes of The Blogfather, ALCantLimp, TheFilmGeek, SirWhatchamacallit, (sorry Sir I about fell out of my chair laughing when Al typed that), Pauly for a few hands, BadBlood for a couple as well. (If I missed anyone my deepest apologies). I lurked around for a while (most of you don't/didn't know my screen name), but alas the blogger in me came out when I managed to take down a HUGE pot (musta been like 2.13) with DA HAMMER. I knew my lurking time was over. It was an absolute blast, and besides being pretty tired and making a few bad plays near 2A.M. (surrendering about 25 of my profit). I still managed to double my buy in. With a crowd like the above at the table I was happy to escape with my dignity!

If the new players deciding to sit down at our table only knew what they landed in the middle of...if they only knew.
