When it nears WSOP time like any red-blooded poker player you get the itch. The itch to feel the felt, to riffle chips, to hear the snap of cards. It's not that you have quit playing poker & have now just decided to pick it back up, but rather a desire to be immersed in the action. I find myself playing much more during this time of year, kind of an electronic pacifier to soothe your soul and quite your envy. You'd rather be in vegas getting your gambool on & attempting to luckbox the golden ticket that is a bracelet.

But you can't.

Work is kicking your arse, your life is too hectic to carve out enough time to take a red-eye out & just "be" for a few days. You refresh Doc's site to let him paint a picture, give you that 3 minute break from reality. The place where the only things that matter are who's got the chiplead, who he just pissed next to & what flash of the seedy underbelly you'll get a peep at.

Don't get me wrong the things that are hectic in my life are all good, family, friends, projects, social events, the things that help define you. So I occasionally turn to digital felt, to keep the boat at even keel. It's why many people do crossword puzzles, read, watch movies, play video games etc. You don't have to worry about a thing for "x" amount of time. It's your mental vacation.

So what happens when your taking a mental vacation, getting in some quality time with me, myself & I? You get kicked in the junk. (Were not talking thrice confirmed junk, just your everyday junk)

Best of all it's fleeting. That sick feeling of getting the world's injustice heaped upon you in the form of a one outer, a runner-runner losing when your a 90% favorite. It's gone..... just as soon as you click the "x" in the top right of the screen. And you settle back, back from your mental vacation. Into the good things, the things that define you, family, friends, projects, social events. Yet they don't seem near as hectic now do they?

RoundersBuzz.com

One of the biggest problems that I have with sites is finding the tailored content that fits my uberpicky reading taste. Enter RoundersBuzz.com.
It is similar to Digg, where you can submit and vote on the best stories, but it is only for poker content. This is huge! I often found myself sifting through Digg to find poker related news stories etc. While attempting to dodge the shameless attempts of article submitters who continually post junk, just to get a referral code out there.

Besides the main page, there are five Category pages for specific stories including a category on Tournament Strategy and one on Online Poker Tools. They also have categories on General Poker, Ring Game Strategy and Poker News.

Go check them out it's worth the trip

No title needed

Not really something you want to happen at the final table for all your chips.
I raised preflop BB pushed all in, I instacalled. Good read, bad result.... but that's poker.

Empty Delivery?

It's been thirty years since we've seen a triple crown winner. Yet Big Brown is on the cusp of snapping that thirty year drought. With the early morning news of Casino Drive being scratched with a stone bruise on his left hind hoof, does it leave any real contenders in the field?

For what it's worth I'd love to see a triple crown winner in my lifetime, but with the field being rather weak in the Belmont does it cheapen the title if Big Brown scores the win today? I say yes. Don't get me wrong I've rooted for Big Brown & the impressive way he put away the field in the Pimlico, I was convinced that he had "it."

As a bettor I was going to play against Big Brown today with Casino Drive, his very impressive wins, coupled with the better price made sense. I fully expected to see Big Brown to go off at 1-5, now without Casino Drive out 1-9 looks like the number.

I'm sad to see that they've decided to scratch Casino Drive, but with today's racing culture where I think many trainers/owners tend to push the horses a bit too much, I admire the decision. Often you see horses that in the past could have been scratched or given an extra few weeks to recover, right back into the fray. The drive for success & cash is clouding the traditional view of how to properly handle a horse. (Stepping off soapbox now)

Today if Big Brown does glide across the wire with a 4 length victory, so be it but I will always put an asterisk next to his name. Not because Dutrow has him juiced up on the horse version of
"The Clear & Cream" but simply that the field is devoid of competition.

Save me a seat...err... Many return trips to the window
